The Belfast Community Co-op’s Common Cents group

The Belfast Community Co-op’s Common Cents group for June is RSU 71 School Garden Collaborative! Every shopper may ‘round-up’ their purchases at the Co-op to donate to our monthly recipient. 100% of all donations received through Common Cents go on to each month’s group.

What is RSU 71 School Garden Collaborative?

The RSU 71 Garden Collaborative’s vision is to cultivate ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable gardens across the RSU 71 school district that support an educational ecosystem connecting students, staff, and the broader community.

The collaborative is made up of a group of teachers, students, and food corps members who manage and maintain a total of five vibrant school garden programs across the district.

100% of all donations received through Common Cents go on to each month’s group.

The Belfast Community Co-op has become the first f

The Belfast Community Co-op has become the first food co-op in the state to accept WIC participants. The Co-op has worked closely with the State and the WIC program for several months to make this possible. On June 9th we will be touring the store and learning how to use eWIC cards. If you or someone you know uses WIC, please come on by!

We are excited to welcome WIC participants to the store and encourage them to join several other programs that address food insecurity in the community, including the EBT/Food Stamps program, the Farm Fresh Reward program, and our own C.O.R.E. Program. The C.O.R.E. Program is designed to make local food more affordable to qualifying community members.

It's Memorial Day Weekend and that means it's finally safe to plant those tender annuals! We still have many vigorous seedlings from Villiageside Farm! So many flowers and veggies, you'll want to make your garden bigger so you can plant them all!!

As we get excited for the first big weekend of summer, we wanted to take a minute to honor the meaning of Memorial Day. Whether it's picnics, parades, parties, or a moment of quiet reflection, there are many ways to remember the people who gave their lives to serve our country. We will be open all weekend long from 8 AM - 8 PM, come and see us!

Memorial Day also kicks off the beginning of the grilling season. It's a time to gather with loved ones, fire up the grill, and enjoy some summer weather together. We hope you all have a marvelous weekend! Come by and pick up some delicious food to share!
