PFAs

As a number of local farms have begun the process of testing their soil and water for the presence of PFAS, some have tested positive. PFAS, or per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, are known as “forever chemicals” because they do not degrade in the environment. Our friends at MOFGA and Maine Farmland Trust are working together to compile resources for testing, make farmers aware of grants for off-setting lost income, and inform the greater community of actions that can be taken on a state level to help change.
