HELP TELL THE STORY OF THE BELFAST COMMUNITY CO-OP!
The Belfast Community Co-op is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and as part of our year-long festivities, there will be a Co-op exhibition at Waterfall Arts in early winter 2027.
Along with materials from our own archives, we are looking for loans or donations of art and ephemera to include from our friends, neighbors, staffers and member-owners!
- If you have pieces that you are interested in loaning to the exhibit, please send an email to art50@belfast.coop describing your item(s). Photographs of your items are appreciated and can be attached to your email.
- Deadline for submission of art or items is August 20th, to ensure time to review submissions.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Belfast Community Co-op art! Please send us drawings, paintings, prints, photography, old signs, etc.--anything that portrays the Co-op we love, either from its past history or present incarnation. Both existing and new pieces are most welcome.
- Belfast Community Co-op ephemera and memorabilia, such as vintage tote bags, hats, t-shirts, buttons, newspaper clippings, etc. Nothing unduly soiled or damaged, please, and only materials relating directly to the Belfast Community Co-op!
Please note that not every piece submitted will be displayed in this curated exhibition.
We are more likely to accept your item(s) if:
- They have a story behind them relating to the history of the Co-op
- You are the artist or creator
- They are visually and historically compelling
- They are under 40” x 30”
We are less likely to accept your item(s) if:
- It is not visually clear that they are related to the Co-op
- You can’t identify the original artist or creator
- They are exceptionally large or would be difficult to display
- We have similar objects already on hand
Artists of all ages and mediums are also invited to create new art about the Co-op’s past or present for submission!
Deadline for submission of art or items is August 13th, to ensure time to review submissions.
If you have pieces that you are interested in loaning to the exhibit, please send an email to art50@belfast.coop describing your item(s). Photographs of your items are appreciated and can be attached to your email.
We are asking for loans or donations; we are not purchasing objects. Donors and the artists will be recognized and thanked in the exhibition. Submissions will be returned to the artist or donor in original condition at the end of the show or on a timeline negotiated, or will be donated to the Co-op in perpetuity. We are not able to give tax writeoffs for any donations at this time.
