Your shopping makes a difference! The Belfast Community Co-op, along with 164 other co-ops across the US, were raising money for @Natifs_org The final amount is in and we are proud to announce that collectively, more than $139,000 was raised for the North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NĀTIFS).⁠ We contributed nearly $600 ourselves from 11,841 Field Day items sold!⁠ ⁠Almost double the amount of what we normally sell!⁠

Through a promotion that ran from Oct. 30 through Dec. 3, NCG member co-ops donated $0.05 for every Field Day product purchased by their shoppers. By addressing economic disparities, food insecurity and the loss of Indigenous food knowledge, NĀTIFS aims to restore health, wealth and cultural identity to Indigenous populations. The organization's commitment to promoting Indigenous foodways education, facilitating food access and revitalizing ancestral knowledge underscores its mission to create positive social impact and support underserved communities.⁠

That's a wrap for the 2024 Holiday Giving Tree! We dropped off the last of the gifts to Waldo Community Action Partners (WCAP) on Wednesday! ⁠

A big THANK YOU to our community for helping us "brighten a child's holiday!" The Co-op had 15 children with 45 tags total and all 45 tags were claimed. We received so many generous donations like winter coats, shoes, toys, and books! A lot of children are going to be very happy!⁠

While delivering the gifts, we found out that over 900 children in Waldo County were in need of gifts for the holidays. So for everyone who helped make this project successful, we can't say thank you enough!⁠
