Overlock Skatepark

Jan 26, 2021 | advocacy, Events

The Belfast Co-op’s Common Cents group for February is Overlock Skatepark!  Every shopper may ’round-up’ their purchases at the Co-op to donate to our monthly recipient.

Vision for Overlock Park

The new Overlock Park will be a dramatic shift from the existing wooden park. Moving away from a fenced, contained block, the new park will feature open areas that everyone may enjoy.

Contained in the existing skatepark footprint, an in-ground concrete park will offer a safe and enjoyable skating surface. The new material will lead to less necessary maintenance as well.

Most notably, Overlock Park will become a full-fledged park with grassy areas, benches, picnic tables, trees, lighting, and walkways. It will link in with the future development of walking paths leading to Front Street and connecting with the Harbor Walk. Everyone will be able to enjoy the view from atop the hill, looking out over the bay. The goal is to break ground on this project by Summer 2022.
