What is Habitat For Humanity of Waldo County?

Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County (HFHWC) is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Their mission is to build strength, stability, self-reliance, and shelter in partnership with low-income residents of Waldo County. They are dedicated to the belief that all people deserve decent, safe and affordable housing on terms they can afford. They build relationships as well as houses, along with pride in service, home ownership and community. They sell homes to working families who qualify after going through a multi-step application process. The homes are sold to partners, who assume the mortgage with affordable monthly payments. The homeowner also contributes at least 200 hours of sweat equity, including a minimum of 100 hours helping to build their own home, as well as other Habitat homes.
