| | | Celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day Monday, October 13, is Indigenous Peoples’ Day—a time to honor the history, culture, and resilience of Indigenous peoples. In Maine, this day holds special significance as we recognize the Wabanaki Nations—the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Mi’kmaq, and Maliseet peoples—who have lived on this land for over 12,000 years. Collectively known as the “People of the Dawn,” the Wabanaki continue to shape the character, culture, and identity of the home we share. |

| It’s National Co-op Month! This October, we are celebrating National Co-op Month and shouting out all of our favorite cooperatively-owned brands throughout the store.
What makes a co-op special? A co-op is special because it’s owned and democratically run by its members, putting people and the community first.
Co-ops are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity.
In the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility, and caring for others.
Co-ops are also governed by seven principles: 1. Voluntary and open membership 2. Democratic member control 3. Member economic participation 4. Autonomy and independence 5. Education, training, and information 6. Cooperation among Co-ops 7. Concern for Community

| | Congratulations to Waldo County Pet Food Pantry! Last month’s Common Cents donation totaled $6,980.45! We’re thrilled to share that this incredible amount was made possible by Co-op shoppers who chose to round up at the register throughout the month of September. Thanks to your generosity, upcoming rabies clinics will now be offered free of charge to the community, helping keep pets healthy and cared for. Your spare change truly adds up to big change—thank you for supporting local organizations that make a difference! |
